Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Somalia

In a complex country setting, the Head of Resident Coordinator's Office who heads the Resident Coordinator’s Office team has the challenge to support efforts to align all the resources of the UN family. Meet Jo Nickolls, who spearheads these efforts in Somalia. Jo ensures that the full team works effectively to support common analysis across humanitarian, development and peacebuilding practitioners in the country, which then informs the UN’s full programming response: the Humanitarian Response Plan, the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and planning documents of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM). This joined-up approach helps to create synergies across various initiatives, maximise UN’s collective strength and ensure effective planning, prioritization and coordination around key priorities for the country that go beyond short-term emergency solutions, including water management, internal displacement and anti-fraud and anti-corruption
