RC system Results Framework
In resolution 74/4 on the review of the RC system, the General Assembly requested the Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group to present to ECOSOC a results framework with multi-annual performance indicators and targets for the RC system, starting in 2022. The framework was extensively consulted with Member States to ensure it responded to their expectations. ECOSOC took note with appreciation of the framework that emerged from the consultative process, in the Council’s resolution 2023/31.
Case studies
The results of the RC system in lifting the offer of the UN development system and responding to needs and priorities of individual countries are evident. The Permanent Missions of DRC, Egypt, Kenya, Pakistan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines have hosted events open to all Member States to showcase the impact of the reinvigorated RC system in their countries.

Funding of the RC system
In resolution 72/279 establishing the reinvigorated RC system, the General Assembly decided to fund the RC system through: (a) 1% levy on tightly earmarked third-party non-core contributions to UN development-related activities; (b) doubling the cost-sharing arrangement of the UN entities part of the UN Sustainable Development Group; (c) voluntary, predictable, multi-year contributions to a dedicated trust fund to support the inception period. A Special Purpose Trust Fund for the RC system was set up when the reinvigorated system was established in 2018.
The Joint SDG Fund
The Joint SDG Fund, hosted by the Development Coordination Office, is the muscle of the RC system. As a global pooled fund for sustainable development interventions, it provides countries with catalytic funding to enable integrated programming and financing solutions to advance the SDGs.
