Coordinating the UN’s joint response to drought in Djibouti
Under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator, the UN agencies, funds and programmes in Djibouti truly embody the new generation of UN country teams envisioned by the UN development system reform: in the wake of the drought in the Horn of Africa, an emergency response plan for Djibouti was developed in a matter of hours, with clear priorities and division of labor. This ensured that humanitarian and development assistance, including food, water and shelter, reached affected populations within the first days of the crisis.
