Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan
As the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Azerbaijan, what gets Kanako Mabuchi out of bed every morning is the prospect of bringing different people together to work towards a shared purpose. In celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day, she mobilized the UN and development partners to jointly support over 100 women’s organizations and civil society organizations in Azerbaijan to launch the National Dialogue Platform on Women’s Agenda, which aims to strengthen women’s leadership and increase women’s meaningful participation to shape Azerbaijan’s future.
In the context of post-conflict recovery in Azerbaijan, under the strategic leadership of the Resident Coordinator, Kanako facilitates the Joint Recovery Needs Assessment exercise by the European Union (EU), the UN and the World Bank, working with over 80 technical experts from the Government, EU, UN and the World Bank. The Assessment will help the UN to explore options to further scale-up integrated support to the Government-led and people-centered multi-sectoral recovery in conflict-affected areas and create a platform between the Government and the international partners for a coordinated, transparent and coherent support.
