Partnerships Officer in Uganda
Meet Rekha Shrestha, Partnership and Development Finance Officer in Uganda. In 2022, Rekha supported the Resident Coordinator and UN country team deliver a well-coordinated emergency response to various crises, including an outbreak of deadly Ebola Sudan Virus. As the Chair of a Humanitarian Inter-Agency Coordination Group (HICG), she enables strategic planning, advocacy, and technical support to the Humanitarian Country Team Lite (HCT-L).
With previous experience operationalizing the Human-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus in other contexts, Rekha has the skills to effectively launch the HDP-Nexus in Uganda. In 2023, Rekha is working with colleagues across the UN country team to explore new pathways to improve food security, scale-up climate action, safeguard refugees and mobilize cross-border UN coordination to support stabilization efforts in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa region. She is also coordinating the UN country team’s participation in the UN Common Pledge 2.0 in the lead-up to the 2023 Global Refugee Forum. Strengthening UN partnerships with various actors for mobilizing actions and resources for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is another key priority for 2023. Rekha is facilitating the UN Partnership Group to advance this stream of UN work in the Pearl of Africa.
