Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Botswana

Helen Andreasson, the Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Botswana since March 2020 has played a key role in the design UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2022-2026) for Botswana, supporting the Resident Coordinator and UN country team. Her role was crucial in making sure that the Cooperation Framework was designed in an inclusive and participatory way, with close engagement with community groups, civil society actors, private sector, trade unions, refugees, academia and more. The resulting Cooperation Framework recognizes inequality as a key development challenge in Botswana and places Leaving No One Behind principle at its center. It also sets up platforms for continuous engagement, allowing a wider range of stakeholders to work directly with the UN to jointly monitor the implementation of the Cooperation Framework, in order to both guide and better hold the UN accountable in its efforts to support Botswana’s development agenda.

Helen and her RCO team also worked closely to ensure a stand-alone focus on Gender Equality, in order to ensure that gender is not only mainstreamed across all aspects of the UN in Botswana’s work, but also highlighted and engaged on as a key development and human rights challenge for the country.
