Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Egypt
With one of the largest UN footprints in the world with 21 UN Country Offices and 17 Regional Offices in Egypt, a key task of Max Schott, the Head of Resident Coordinator's Office, is to identify ways to connect diverse capacities across the UN entities to support national priorities.
Under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator, Max is enabling this shift by ensuring a nimble and enabling coordination architecture – for instance, for the UN’s offer of integrated support to key priorities such as the Food Systems and Transforming Education Summits, and especially for Egypt’s Presidency of the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). Such support is essential to reduce transaction costs and avoid potential gaps and duplication among UN entities.
Max brings significant experience also in humanitarian coordination. Accordingly, he was deployed in 2021 as UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination Team Leader to Haiti for a short period following the earthquake to support the relief efforts led by the Humanitarian Coordinator.
