Joining forces to overcome key development challenges through the New Multi-Country Office for Micronesia

Under the leadership of the first Resident Coordinator for the Micronesian region, based in the Federated States of Micronesia and also servicing Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, and Palau, UN country team has stepped up presence and much needed support in the North Pacific. 

The new Resident Coordinator has been engaging closely with the other two multi-county Resident Coordinators covering the Pacific, including to develop a new regional multi-country UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2023-2027) – a roadmap agreed with the Governments to guide the joint efforts of the UN to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

The Resident Coordinator is already at work to localize implementation of the priorities included in the regional Cooperation Framework, capturing county-specific needs in dedicated country implementation plans for each country covered. Critical priorities include climate change, non-communicable diseases and education.
