Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office in the Republic of Congo

Mirhame Mshangama, Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office in the Republic of Congo, leads collaborative efforts to address development and humanitarian challenges in this lower middle-income country.

Mirhame played a pivotal role in aligning the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the guiding document for the joint work between the UN Country Team and the Government, with national priorities. Her leadership was instrumental in the development and finalization of the National Development Plan (NDP), strengthening the government’s monitoring and evaluation capacity and supporting the establishment of tools to track the NDP's implementation.

In addition to her development work, Mirhame spearheaded the organization of the second Summit of the Three Tropical Basins Strategic Dialogue in collaboration with national authorities. This initiative aimed to forge an alliance between states within the Amazon, Congo, and Borneo-Mekong-Southeast Asia basins, crucial for global carbon sinks and climate action.
Mirhame's strategic foresight and proactive planning have been instrumental in responding to humanitarian crises.

Mirhame facilitated the development of a national contingency plan in partnership with the Government and UN agencies, which proved invaluable during flooding in February 2024.  During the crisis she brought together non-governmental organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners and resources from the Central Emergency Response Fund to address the urgent needs of over 270,000 affected individuals.
