Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Mexico
Meet Jessica Braver, who served as the Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in her native Argentina from 2019-2022, and has just taken on a similar position in Mexico.
In Argentina, Jessica has supported the UN’s work to integrate humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts to ensure affected populations receive long-term solutions. She has been a key member of the teams supporting the Resident Coordinators of Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia, to initiate a cross-border strategy for the “Gran Chaco Americano”, the largest dry forest in the world and the second-largest forest biome in South America, where 70% of indigenous populations live in extreme poverty. Jessica played a key role in connecting various stakeholders and building trust among them. The multidimensional risk analysis coordinated by Jessica across the three countries and subsequent advocacy on the results also proved effective. The European Union is now investing EUR7 million in the Argentinian Gran Chaco region to improve lives of communities left behind.
