Important Message: Misuse of the UN name, acronym and emblem by the entity called “United Nations Independent System-Wide Evaluation Mechanism (UNISWEM)"
There have been multiple reported cases of misuse of the UN name, acronym and emblem by an entity or group called “United Nations Independent System-Wide Evaluation Mechanism (UNISWEM)”, as well as of misleading information concerning its affiliation with the United Nations.
Please be advised that the entity or group called “UNISWEM” was not established by the United Nations, is not associated or affiliated with the United Nations in any manner and has not been authorized by the Secretary-General to use the United Nations name, acronym or emblem in any of its activities.
The use of the United Nations name, including any abbreviation thereof, and emblem is strictly reserved for the official purposes of the Organization in accordance with General Assembly resolution 92(I) of 7 December 1946. The use of the UN name and emblem for any other purposes shall require the express authorization of the Secretary-General. The United Nations name and emblem are also protected by Article 6 ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, revised in Stockholm on 14 July 1967.
UNISWEM is not a United Nations entity and is not authorized to use the United Nations name, acronym, or emblem.
Please note that this entity or group should not be confused with the United Nations Sustainable Development Group System-Wide Evaluation Office (UNSDG SWEO), which was established as an independent United Nations office with the objective of strengthening the oversight, transparency, accountability, and collective learning across the United Nations development system.
