Supporting middle-income countries’ efforts, as in Tunisia

Bringing together UN entities and development partners in support of national development efforts in middle-income countries remains critical, most recently as they face the financial shocks caused by the war in Ukraine and the socio-economic implications of COVID-19.

In Tunisia, thanks to enhanced dialogue and cooperation between the UN and national authorities, the Government has fully integrated the SDGs into national development plans, and has already presented two Voluntary National Reviews of progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Resident Coordinator is also ensuring that the individual and collective knowledge and expertise of the 27 UN entities in the country team forge new partnerships with Government agencies, International Financial Institutions, the private sector, civil society and academia, to ensure that at risk populations – including migrants, rural women and young people – are not left behind.
