Within the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Tanzania, Evance Siangicha has coordinated the implementation of one of the UN’s flagship Joint Programmes in the country, the Kigoma Joint Programme (KJPI). The KJPI, implemented by 16 UN Agencies, focused on providing a more strategic and coordinated response to the humanitarian - development needs of the refugees, migrants and host communities in Kigoma, one of the poorest regions Tanzania, on a number of areas from ending violence against women and children, to education, health and nutrition. As of June, 2022, the Joint Programme had reached more than 400,000 beneficiaries, 67% being women and eventually contributed to the improvement of several socio - economic indicators in the region and promoted peaceful co-existence between refugee/migrant population and host communities. Further, the programme introduced several solutions, such as a safe house for survivors of gender-based violence and an integrated programme for out of school adolescences, which are being replicated country-wide.

Carrying this work forward, Evance also supported the design of Phase 2 of the Kigoma Joint Programme (2022-27) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, UNSDCF ( 2022 - 27).  He is also currently leading the UN technical team supporting Tanzania’s Voluntary National Review of its progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among other responsibilities.
